The KuSakura TAISHO represents the pinnacle of Japanese competition judogi craftsmanship. Designed and manufactured in Japan for serious competitors, the TAISHO is KuSakura’s latest generation of premium IJF-approved competition uniforms and is engineered to meet the demands of national and international competition.

Available in White (JOV) and Blue (JNV), the TAISHO combines traditional Japanese construction with a modern competition-focused fabric developed to provide exceptional strength, durability, comfort, and performance.

KuSakura developed the TAISHO after years of experience producing IJF competition judogi. Its approximately 750 g/m² double-layer fabric combines cotton and polyester to achieve excellent strength while maintaining the mobility and feel required by competitive judoka. The jacket provides a tensile strength exceeding 2,200 Newtons, while the cotton/polyester construction also helps the judogi dry more quickly and pack more compactly for athletes who travel frequently.

The upper jacket features KuSakura’s traditional Sashiko (rice-grain) weave, while the lower section incorporates Hishisashi (diamond) weave construction—a combination that reflects the craftsmanship for which Japanese-made KuSakura judogi are known.

In Japanese team competition, the Taisho is the final and often decisive competitor—the athlete entrusted with closing the match for the team. KuSakura chose the name to represent a judogi designed for athletes competing when performance matters most.
