Not bad. I like the styling, but there are some things that would've changed my mind on this purchase. A judo gi is a big purchase for a lot of folks and the stakes are higher because a lot of times you can't really try it out before being stuck with your decision. I figure it's important to share impressions so everyone can make an informed decision. For reference, I'm 5'11" and 190 lbs (86 kg). I got the Size 4 (180). My choice was between this gi for $134 and the Fuji Sports Double Weave at roughly $100. I've had and enjoyed the Fuji Double Weave (size 4.5) for a long time, but wanted to try something different this time. Plus, this gi looks cooler.
But here are my concerns:
* The description says "heavier and stronger", but to me, it feels pretty thin. The skirt almost feels paper thin. The lapel is much thinner than the Fuji double weave and just about any other double weave I've come into contact with to-date. During randori it felt like I was constantly having to stuff tissue paper back under my obi after every throw.
* The description also says the "cut is slightly slimmer", but there is a lot of material around the mid section and shoulders. I'm not a super trim guy, and I feel like if there was a "slim cut" version of this gi, I'd probably go with that (there's not). This one wraps around like a double breasted suit, and you have to wrap it around so much, there's not much room for venting in the chest area. Consequently, even though the material is lighter, I actually felt hotter during practice. Also, the pant leg width and length felt OK, but the waste was huge, so huge that the extra drawstring material hung down lower than my obi and the openings on the side never really closed up. As a result, I'm going to have to get the pants taken in.
* Frustratingly, there's also some fraying around some seams on the pant legs and overall the seams just feel a little more fragile than what I'm used to. I'll be interested to see how this gi holds up over time.
Other than that, I like the color. I like the stripes. I'm still going to use it.
